I am having problems finding the quicklink subfinder.

The Subfinder link can be found under the Staff tab at the top-right side of the page (similar to the location of the Staff links on the old page). Click on this tab and it will take you to the Staff Portal. On the right side of the page is the link to Subfinder as well as other tools for accessing resources.

A staff member inquired about her missing listing in the directory and I thought I would share that directory updates are in the works. The current directory was assembled by using the old website (which had directories from 2005) and two other lists. I don’t think any of these were really updated. So, this shows us something else to update in our efforts to streamline our district communications.

Another comment came in unrelated to the new site. If you have comments unrelated to the new kisd website, then this is not the forum for those comments. Please contact the right people for those comments. Use the directory! ;)

Thank You!! I love the new pages. Looks like a lot of hard work. The pages are informative and very easy to navigate. Good Job!

Wow! and congratulations! First time I’ve checked your site in several weeks, and look, a total redesign! In my new part-time job, all I do is look at college web sites and rewrite content on the St. Philip’s site. This new KISD site looks great; all the elements of good web design are in place. Content is scannable and easy to digest. Someone’s done a great job!

I can’t find the recommendation letter printouts on the website to give to my references. Last time I had my references mail them in but it has been a year and my application has been reactivated. Do I need to have new ones in my file. Please help!!

The recommendation forms have been posted to the site. We are in the process of making the HR website much easier to navigate and access now.

It is actually a change in Windstream’s services. We are working with Windstream to have them make the changes needed on their end.

What happened to the old site? What happened to the pages on the different departments like athletics, band and ROTC? I used to go to the sites to find out what is going on within the different departments. I can’t find it or must have missed it. It must be there, somewhere, but where?

That old site is no more. The server that once held it has passed on. It was barely surviving up until the end.

I thought I would address the comment above to share that we are really looking to move our district web presence beyond just webpages and into a better 21st century tool.

Web pages still must be visited to have information accessed. And that means there must be a person assigned to update the content on that site. Teachers, coaches, administrators, etc. don’t have time in their day to update their websites. Content that is posted is often neglected and training for web editing is limited.

But, what if information could be delivered without a specific website? What if parents and students could receive up to the second updates via their phones, cell-phones, and email? What if there was a way to share information that did not require knowledge of web site management tools?

Sure, A webpage can be used to host information. It can house forms for download or even allow you to embed video. But how do you communicate effectively if you still require people to visit a website to receive the information?

We believe content should be distributed in a timely manner and available for access in multiple content methods. KISD will soon be announcing a new way for students, staff, and parents to receive up-to-date information delivered by phone, text, and email.

Our new website is just the tip of the iceberg for district communications. How we deliver and receive information will change with the technology needs as well.

I think that this page should have more about the extracurricular activities. I know that acedemics are a very important factor in school, but most of what keeps people motivated to do well are the extracurricular programs. If it is possible, there should be pages for band, choir, all sports, foreign language, and other various clubs and organizations.
